Ute Schumacher joined the Economics Department as a Visiting Assistant Professor in 2000. She teaches Intermediate Microeconomics and Principles of Economics. Professor Schumacher’s research interests are in the fields of applied microeconomics, especially public and development economics, and have a strong policy focus. Aside from academic positions, she has worked at the Planning Institute of Jamaica, the Office of the Prime Minister of Jamaica, and on community development projects across the United States.
